Ron reaches his final week of his coastal walk...

Ron reaches his final week of his coastal walk around Ireland to mark 18 years since his transplant -   Completing the equivalent of 60 marathons in just 3 months

Ron and Carol Cummins  finish their walk around the coast of Ireland  on Sunday 20th September at 12 noon in the Circle of Life Donor Commemorative  Garden in Salthill in Galway.   The Garden commemorates all Organ Donors world wide and this is why they decided to start and finish the walk in this special place.

They have touched every town around the coast of Ireland and met many people on the way.   The original schedule which is posted (although it is a week out due to a change of schedule) shows just how much of Ireland they have covered in the 93 days of walking.

If you want to join them for a few KMs or find them on their route and cheer them on - these are the last few stops.

Tuesday 15th - Lahinch (resting there Wednesday)
Thursday 17th Sept - Doolin/Craggagh
Friday 18th Sept - Ballyvaughan/Bealaclugga
Saturday 20th - Oranmore/Salthill
Finishing 12 noon, Circle of Life Garden, Salthill.

They have completed an amazing personal challenge and have created donor awareness along the way.   All in memory of the person who gave Ron his precious gift of life 18 years ago.

What summer?

'What summer? I had just two fine days on 2,500km walk', reveals transplant dad - Herald.ie

Ron Cummings and his partner Carol Brennan at Bray.

Ireland's rain-soaked summer has not deterred heart transplant recipient Ron Cummins from walking around the coast of Ireland.

WALK WITH RON

My name is Ron cummins. (57) I am a Heart Transplant recipient of seventeen years.
This June the 20th , starting from Salthill Galway, I am attempting to walk the coastline of Ireland (2500km) .
I am doing this to raise donor awareness and funds for the Irish Heart & Lung Transplant Association. This walk should take me 93 days so that I finish back in the Circle of Life Garden in Salthill Galway on the 20th of September marking the 18th year of my transplant.

Starting time for the walk on Saturday the 20th is 11.00 am. from the Circle of life Garden in Salthill in Galway.
People can donate via http://www.mycharity.ie/event/ron_cumminss_walk_around_ireland. Ron Cummins and follow my progress on my facebook page.
We would appreciate if anyone along our route (see below) could help out with a place to stay for Carol and I. If you can, please contact carolmarybrennan@gmail.com   or phone Carol on  0864061217

SKY DIVE for IHLTA

Our thanks to Michelle and Padraig Kehoe (Wexford) who organised a Sky Dive in aid of the IHLTA.   The day was a great success and we thank all involved from organisers to sponsors and of course the brave band of sky divers !

Thanks for Ladies mini marathon 2015

Many thanks to the small but enthusiastic group of ladies who did the Mini Marathon in the rain for the IHLTA this year!   A special mention for Brigid Forde - lung transplant recipient - who wasn't put off by the weather and completed the mini marathon with her friend, Catherine.
