Please note that our AGM, to be held on Saturday March 10 in the Pillar Room of the Mater Hospital, will now start at the earlier time of 10.30 am. A meeting for members intending to travel to this summer's transplant games will take place immediately aftrwards.

Support Group Meetings - Important Notice

Infection Control Mesaures - Group Meetings

The IHLTA have been advised that individuals cannot attend the support group meetings in the below circumstances:

 

-If they have not had their flu vaccination (this needs to be at least 2 weeks prior)

 

-If they have CRE or VRE which is symptomatic at the time of the group (bacterial infections)

 

-If they are less than three months post transplant (while we appreciate that said individuals may have a particular desire to attend, standard protocol for this period is to avoid contact with large groups, where possible)

 

-If they have been advised to continue to wear a mask/avoid public places by the team

 

-If they have Burkholderia Cepacia or Burkolderia Multivorans (i.e. if they require isolation/ attend clinic on a different day to other patients)

 

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but ultimately, it is for the best interests of all present.

We look forward to seeing you all on February 26.

IHLTA AGM

 

The AGM will take place on Saturday March 10 2018 in the Pillar Room of the Mater Hospital at 10:30. 

Immediately afterwards, there will be a meeting of members intending to participate in/travel to this summer's transplant games in Italy.

European Heart & Lung Transplant Games, Lignano, June 2018

 

The online entry is now open for the 2018 Games.

Italy is proud to invite you to the 17th European Games for Transplanted Heart and Lungs that will be held in Lignano Sabbiadoro (UD), from 11 to 16 June 2018.

The games are open to all recipients of heart or lung transplants.

The Championships are a sporting event that includes various different disciplines and are open to transplanted athletes of any age.

Venue

Most sporting events will be held inside of the Villaggio BellaItalia (formerly GeTur) of Lignano Sabbiadoro or a short distance from the same.

Lignano Sabbiadoro is an Italian municipality of 7,000 inhabitants, of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, bathed by the Adriatic Sea.

It is one of the most famous and tourist seaside resorts of Italy and is awarded the Blue Flag.

Transplant Team flight details proposed are with Aer Lingus Dublin to Venice (Marco Polo) on Sunday 10th June 2018 and return Sunday 17th June 2018.

 

Extra night’s accommodation costs apply for Sunday 10th June 2018 and Saturday 16th June 2018.

 

 

 

The IHLTA will have an Information desk for the Transplant Championships after our Service next Saturday 17th February 2018.
